Introduction to Google AdWords

Introduction

AdWords is Google's advertising network created in 2000 in the United States. It is intended to display ads or banner ads, which are targeted based on user-written keywords or based on their browsing behavior.

One should also know that Google AdWords is the main source of google revenue.

What is Google AdWords?

It is therefore an advertising program for advertisers. This is not the same as Google Adsense, as opposed to Google Adwords which allows to buy traffic, Adsense allows to sell traffic. Advertisers pay when the user clicks on the advertisement according to a bid and quality system:
the more the ad is relevant to the user, the lower the price per click and the highlighting. This is to encourage advertisers to provide information relevant to the user's request. AdWords allows the creation of advertisements, and the distribution of this advertising through the websites registered on the Google Adsense program.

AdWords is not an indexing criterion:

Indeed, running advertising through Google services will not make your site go up in Google search results. So there is no direct link between Google Adwords and SEO. It's just a way to promote your business so that Internet users know you and talk to you.

Using Google Adwords

To create an ad campaign, you first need to create a Google Account to access AdWords. Then go to the AdWords home page. Once connected, a page asks you to choose your currency and your time zone. Then click "Continue" to validate the account, which becomes usable on AdWords. And finally, you will receive an account activation mail.

Here is the interface of the service to possibly create a first announcement:

To create a first ad, simply click on "Create my first campaign". First, you have to name the ad. Then, you need to set up your ad targeting options, that is, the geographic areas where you want to show your ad. Google AdWords then shows the networks on which the ad will appear, such as Google, Google shopping, Google maps, Youtube, Gmail, and more.

In particular, you can configure device management. For example, if you want to show your ad only on mobile or on computers.

Finally, you must configure the Auction and Budget settings by manually setting the CPC (cost-per-click) of ads, or let Google Adwords optimize the CPC itself to get as many clicks as possible within the limits of your budget.

On the second page you must type the text of your ad. This ad will appear on Google's SERP (Search Engine Result Page), so you have to choose the keywords. In the ad, it is in your interest to promote your services, products, prices, to attract the most customers at a glance, because beside your ad there are the ads of the competition.
